Dr. Philip Denema, PT, DPT, ATC
FAAOMPT, Osteopractor, Cert SMT, Cert DN, Cert. VRS
Physical Therapist and Owner
Phil is passionate about helping you get better, which is at the core of what led him to become a physical therapist, and to open Spine and Sports Physical Therapy in August of 2016. With over 17 years of experience to build upon, Phil has developed his own treatment approaches while incorporating a wide range of post-graduate continuing education. He is continuously learning and applying that learning in order to deliver the best, most effective treatments for his patients.
He is one of roughly 1200 fellowship trained manual orthopedic physical therapists (FAAOMPT) in the country and 1 of only 14 in the state of CT. Considering there are over 200,000 physical therapists in the country, Phil belongs to quite a select group. He received his Fellowship training through the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy from 2014-2015, as well as his certifications in Spinal Manipulative Therapy (Cert. SMT) in 2014 and Dry needling (Cert. DN) in 2015. During this time, he also earned his Diploma in Osteopractic, of which he is 1 of the original 70 Osteopractors to receive the credential worldwide.
Phil received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (DPT) from Sacred Heart University in 2007. Prior to this he completed his undergraduate at Sacred Heart University, receiving a B.S in Athletic Training in 2004. During that time he worked with division 1 student athletes in football, basketball, cross country/track, lacrosse, wrestling, softball and volleyball.
